Living in Central Portugal

Dreaming of living in Central Portugal might seem like a fantasy, one that is filled with home delivered groceries provided by the local small village. In Lagares, Central Portugal you will come across a little village with a range of local deliveries of fresh produce on offer. Although it is rural enough to offer you peace and quiet, Lagares is close to the routes of the IP3 and IP6 which provide uncomplicated entrance to key routes of Portugal, along with Lisbon and Porto Airports.

What might you find in this district that would prove a benefit to living there? Travanca do Mondego nearby is a 2 minute drive or alternatively it could be easily reached on foot in approximately ten min's. This nearby community boasts a mini-supermarket for items not available for delivery to your door, a couple of cafe's doubling as bars, along with fine primary school establishments for children.

For those seeking outdoor activities there are a number of opportunities around for everyone, for instance biking, horse riding and some wonderful walks in the many tracks and forest walks. In a matter of minutes, you can reach many waterside locations where you can enjoy a many water sports for example sailing, kayaking, pedalo hire, fly fishing or swimming. This location boasts a breath taking expanse of lakeside scenes. Along with swimming, sunbathing, taking out a dingy, or enjoying a BBQ, there is the Montebelo Aguiera lake resort and marina plus plenty of other restaurants and bars in the area.

Mountains exist within a twenty five min car ride, and there you will find the Montebelo Golf Course. Located in between the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo mountain ranges, thecourse offers the most fine-looking surroundings in Central Portugal.

Sao Pedro de Alva is only four km away. In Sao Pedro you will find all of your necessary conveniences, for instance schools, health care facilities, and cafe's, in addition to grocery stores, banks, shops and malls and a post office. For larger supermarkets and choice of facilities you can reach Penacova, Mortagua, Santa Comba Dao or Coimbra within 15 to 30 min's. Coimbra City includes a selection of large malls with cinema's, bowling and vast food halls. It is a historic University City, and host to the Universidade de Coimbra. The University was founded in 1290. Also the ancient buildings of this wonderful old city are guaranteed to charm and will remain with you for years too. Less than 10 miles away from Coimbra you will find the Roman ruins of Conimbriga,still in the process of being carefully uncovered whilst other parts are open for visitors.

Lagares is in the central area of Portugal, within close proximity to some stunning areas, including the Serra da Estrella National Park that sits an hour's drive east. In under an hour you can reach the coast at Figueira da Foz and Praia da Tocha.
